Raising Indonesia's Cultural Heritage Harper Cikarang Wears Batik for All of Its Staff

Cikarang, October 2023 – Since the designation of Batik as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO on October 2, 2009, Indonesians celebrate National Batik Day every year to enhance a positive image and pride in Indonesia's cultural heritage in the eyes of the world.

"Batik is a symbol of beauty, art, and deep traditional values for the Indonesian community. Batik is not just a fabric; it is a reflection of the richness of creativity and local wisdom recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO since 2009," shared Hadi Firmansyah, Marketing Communication at Harper Cikarang.

In this year's National Batik Day celebration, Harper Cikarang presents batik in a unique dessert presentation during breakfast on Monday, October 2, 2023. Yes, indeed, besides the staff wearing batik from their respective regions, this Batik Day, we also introduce a unique offering of Batik Dessert that can be enjoyed during breakfast on National Batik Day. He added.

This special Batik Day dessert is presented with batik patterns on the outside, ranging from cakes to bread. The simple batik motifs make the dessert presentation appealing and entirely edible, as it uses White Cream, Chocolate, Milk, and other decorations to create the batik patterns. Rest assured, all these offerings are guaranteed to be safe and hygienic," shared Chef Muhammad Aditya, Pastry Sous Chef at Harper Cikarang.

Furthermore, we have set up a special UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) stand from Kab. Bekasi in the hotel lobby area, where you can directly purchase unique items such as typical leather crafts from Bekasi or the distinctive Batik Tarawang fabric from Bekasi. With this year's National Batik Day celebration, we hope to continue preserving, developing, and promoting the beauty of Batik as an invaluable cultural heritage. Let us together appreciate and celebrate the cultural diversity that makes Indonesia a unique and proud nation.
