Serves as one of the center of historical education in the area, anyone can visit the palace to learn about the historical building and its content; or simply dress up in the ancient garb, take photos, and walk around the lush garden which surrounds the entire building.

Tjong A Fie Mansion was built observing feng-shui principles and has Chinese, Malay and Art Deco influences in its architecture style. 

Great Mosque of Medan

25 minutes from our hotel, The Great Mosque of Medan is the city’s main mosque and is known for being one of the prettiest. The mosque was built using imported building materials such as Italian marble and you can take a tour and check out all the exquisite detail here. Some things to look out for include the pretty stained glass as well as the emerald green tiles, and the dark elegant domes.

Located 15 minutes from our hotel, Rahmat International Wildlife Museum & Gallery is one of the quirkiest attractions in Medan and is a great choice if you want to do something a little unusual. The Gallery is notable as it is filled with preserved animals, so anyone with an interest in taxidermy definitely shouldn’t give it a miss. It is also a great way to check out a range of different species that are indigenous to Indonesia. 

Graha Maria Annai Velangkanni

Located 35 minutes from our hotel and also known as Our Lady of Good Health Church, Graha Maria Annai Velangkanni opened in 2005. This is a Catholic Church but it is modeled on an Indian temple. You can enjoy the ornate furnishings here and the elegant and colorful effigies on show. It is also a powerful symbol of Medan’s diversity.



3 hours from our hotel, Berastagi is a town and district of Karo Regency situated on a crossroads on the main route linking the Karo highlands of Northern Sumatra. The town is known for its plantations and various kinds of flowers, vegetables and fruit, most famous which is the passion fruit. Visitors can enjoy charming scenery to the active mountainside, which is Sibayak and Sinabung Mountain.

Lake Toba

Toba is a place to come and sit back, relax and absorb some beautiful pristine scenery. As you sit and take in the view of the picturesque mountains set against the cool clear lake, you will feel the worries of the world melt away. As the lake sits 900 meters above sea level there is a cooler climate here making a refreshing break from the heat, humidity, and pollution of the city.

25 minutes from the hotel, it is one of the most historic buildings in Medan and formerly used by the Dutch Government as the meeting point for its officials in the center of the city. However, after the Dutch government stepped down, the building is abandoned, even almost being demolished during the Japanese era. Medan City Hall Building is also the kilometer zero in Medan.

Kampung Keling & Sri Mariamman Temple

15 minutes from the hotel, Kampung Keling is the residence for the large Tamil community in Medan, originated from India. The buildings and all of the ornaments which decorate those really look like actual India, and the infamous Sri Mariamman Temple lies in the center of the area since the 1880s.
